Prostate Health Course Overview
- What is the prostate gland?
The prostate is a gland that is located inside the rectum, toward the front of a male body. It’s about the size of a walnut. The prostate gland, also called the P-spot, is part of the sexual response cycle and is essential for the production of semen by secreting fluid that nourishes and protects sperm.
- Where is the prostate gland is located?
The prostate gland is about a finger’s length inside of the rectum and is located facing the front of the body. If a finger is inserted forward about 2-3 inches into a male rectum, the spongy texture of the prostate gland can be felt.
- What are common prostate problems and concerns customers may have?
When a prostate gland is not cared for properly, it can harbor stale semen and fluid, which can lead to all types of health concerns. The most common prostate health concern is an enlarged prostate. Some males with enlarged prostates may develop erectile dysfunction (ED) or problems with ejaculation.
- “How To” prostate massage?
1st Step – Remember where the prostate gland is located. It’s inside the rectum and toward the front of a male body. Also keep in mind that the prostate gland swells during sexual arousal, which makes it the best time to locate it.
2nd Step – Massaging should be done with “come hither” motions. The best way to stimulate the prostate and encourage the release of stale fluid is to use pressure or “come hither” movements, usually using a finger or a prostate toy designed for this.
3rd Step – Once the customer has located their spongy prostate gland, are comfortably laying on their side, and have lubrication on hand, they are ready to perform prostate massage. Their finger should be inserted and touching the prostate gland. If using a prostate toy, the massager’s shape is created to press against the prostate when inserted.
Helpful Tip – The easiest way to massage the prostate gland is to squeeze the PC muscles, which will cause anal muscles to tighten and pull up/inwards.
Important! The first 2-3 times that prostate massage is tried it’s perfectly normal for nothing to happen. This is important for customers to know because they may think they’re doing it wrong when nothing happens. It may take a few tries for the end result, a prostate orgasm, to occur and release stale fluid.
3 Things to remember for prostate massage are: lots of lube, the best position and relaxation.
#1 – Lubricant
I recommend finding a good lubricant and lots of it. The rectal canal isn’t self-lubricating so using lubrication is essential whether using a prostate toy or fingers.
#2 – Position
I’ve found the best position for most males is laying on their side in a slight fetal position. Fingers or a prostate toy will match the curve of the body in this position, so it usually feels best.
#3 – Relax
Customers should be reminded to relax and allow the body to become accustomed to having a finger or toy inside.
